Doug is going for Marathon miles for a cure to Leukemia & Lymphoma

Every year I take on a Marathon, a Triathlon or a Century Ride (100 miles on a bike) to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and this year it’s a Marathon. Also, this year Kari, my daughter is joining Gail and myself to raise money for the L&LS.  Kari's boyfriend, now in Afghanistan flying helicopters, mother is a lymphoma survivor.  In her honor Kari has joined in to raise funds.  It will be her first try at distance running and she is determined to do a great job.  Nels (her boyfriend) won't be back in time to see her run.  I know Kari will miss him and be thinking of him the whole way.

As you know, this cause is very near and dear to me as my girlfriend of several years is a leukemia victim. Gail has Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia or CML. The treatment for CML is a specific drug that was developed through research grants made by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The drug was known of but would have never come to market unless the LLS had been there with the necessary funds to make this miracle possible. The life expectancy of CML, before this treatment, was in the very few years if not months. Gail would have very likely died before we could ever meet.

I owe the fact that we are together today, in part, to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Society owns the ability to do great things, such as making CML treatment possible, to people and companies like yours. I know that times are tough and budgets are tight but I hope you will find a way to contribute. This cause is saving peoples lives, saving peoples families and in some cases, like mine, making families possible.

So, please support my Marathon by donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  To help go to:
